In recent years, John has developed a well deserved reputation as one of Britain's finest artists using the acrylic medium. With five sell out solo shows to his credit at Marine House at Beer, the lead gallery for his work, John produces exciting studies of landscapes in Britain, France and Italy as well as superb relective interiors. As with many artists, John describes himself as "a painter of light". He says, "Paintings do have an emotional centre. I'm not just trying to reproduce something, I'm trying to paint something that looks like how I felt while I was there." For John, that means landscapes, or cityscapes with their different intensities; South West England, Paris, Provence, Venice and Tuscany are his favourites which he visits and revisits. John's style leans towards impressionism creating a real sense of place. His works are always available at Marine House, which also hosts a major solo show every 18 months, while a book and a film have been produced on his work
