A gallery of some of the greatest Italian scientists, thinkers, leaders, artists, buildings, cities and dishes.
Italy has contributed significantly to the World's developement, but some people in youtube seem to be unaware of this and enjoy bashing our glorious nation.

VENICE (Venezia): the only city that is over water, it became the most powerful in all Europe around the XV century.
LEONARDO DA VINCI: to many the greatest genius who ever lived, a magnificent paintor but also a revolutionary scientist.
THE CAPITOLIAN WOLF: according to the legend, she raised Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome.
TRAJAN: the Emperor that leaded Rome to its Golden Age.
TOWER OF PISA: the beautiful leaning tower.
PIZZA: a delicious food whose Italian version is extremely popular around the world.
THE VATICAN: the biggest Church in the World, in other words, "the church of churchs".
DANTE ALIGHIERI: the writer of "The Divine Comedy" (La Divina Commedia), our national epic poem and one of the masterpieces of literature.
JULIUS CAESAR: a brilliant general and politic reformer.
FONTANA DI TREVI: one of the most beautiful in the world.
SIXTEENTH CHAPPEL: Michelangelo Buonarotti's masterpiece as a painter (in his debut!), showing the Bible's version of the Creation.
NICCOLA MACHIAVELLI: political comentator, author of the book "The Prince", whose ideas are still considered a masterpiece.
PASTA: contrary to what many people think, they weren't brought from China (although the Chinese invented them independently) but from the Middle East. In any case, the worldwide known dish is with tomato sauce, a pure Italian invention.
NAPLES (Napoli): many of the famous Italian dishes and canzonettas (songs) are from this city of Sun and love.
PANTHEON: the most beautiful temple, dedicated to all the Roman gods.
LA PIETA: you have to go and see it.
ST. THOMAS AQUINAS: the author of the still in force catholic doctrine.
GALILEO GALILEI: this brilliant scientist achieved the first systematic studies of uniformly accelerated motion but also played a major role in the evolution of astronomy.
SOPHIA LOREN: excellent actress and sex symbol, who became internationally famous after her performances in movies like "Divorzio alla Italiana", "Una giornata particolare" and "La Ciociara", for which she won the Oscar.
FEDERICO FELLINI: considered by many one of the best, if not the best, directors who ever lived, he made "La Strada", "La Dolce Vita", "8 1/2" and "Amarcord", winning 4 Oscars and the Palme d'Or at Cannes.
CICERO: he made a full reform in Roman Law, changing it essentially.
CANNOLI: a delicious Sicilian pastry, which consists on a fried dough filled with ricotta and chocolate.
GIUSSEPPE VERDI: one of Italy's finest composers, author of some of the most charming operas: "Il Trovatore", "Il Nabucco", "Rigoletto"...
THE LAST SUPPER (La Ultima Cena): together with the Mona Lisa it is the most famous painting by Leonardo Da Vinci. It represents Jesus in the table with the twelve apostles.
THE COLISSEUM: the greatest remain we have of the Ancient Rome.
