This episode of Stuzzichini is dedicated to Italian Women in the world. From Geraldine Ferraro to Nancy Pelosi, a number of Italian/American women have succeeded in overcoming two barriers: the gender barrier and the ethnic barrier. Recently the Italian Heritage and Culture Committee of New York has selected Maria Montessori to be the person whose memory and accomplishments will be honored next October 2010. She developed some revolutionary educational methods and there are several Montessori schools throughout the workd, including the United States. Maria Montessori was an excellent woman and not just an Italian; she spent a number of years outside Italy and is a truly international figure.
