The Concert Choir women from Schaumburg High School, Schaumburg, IL, performed Wherever You Are on May 17, 2012. Our soloist was 15-year old Emily Whaley. This selection, composed by Paul Mealor for the Military Wives Choir of Great Britain, was commissioned by conductor Gareth Malone. The text is based on letters written by the wives and girlfriends of Royal Marines serving in Afghanistan. It was premiered on November 23, 2011 by the Military Wives Choirs from Chivenor and Plymouth at the Festival of Remembrance at Royal Albert Hall. Wherever You Are was included in the popular BBC2 series The Choir. The music is available from Novello (NOV201146) in SSA and SATB editions. An orchestral accompaniment may also be ordered. The Schaumburg High School Choir is directed by Tim McGlynn and our accompanist is Bev Tipps.
