"How to realize sustainability in buildings" Paula Cadima graduated in Architecture from the Faculty of Architecture, Technical University of Lisbon in 1985, where is a teacher since 2001 and directs several Ph.D. theses in the area of Sustainable Architecture. She held his doctoral thesis in London, where he spent several years teaching at the Master Course "Environment & Energy Studies Programme." Has extensive research in the area of urban microclimates, passive solar buildings and natural cooling techniques and published several papers in Portugal and abroad.Managed teaching and research activities with professional practice and consultancy in the area of comfort and sustainability environment. In 2006 she was named Vice President of PLEA and currently represents the Association of Portuguese Architects at the European Council of Architects, where she coordinated the Working Group on Environment and Sustainable Architecture in 2009. Today she lives in to Brussels, where she works since 2005 at the European Commission, the managing European projects and promoting energy efficiency and renewables in the buildings sector, and stimulating creative research in new and emerging areas.
