The video can be viewed in 4K on YouTube. Might eventually be relevant when 4k displays come out.

This video shows how some of the areas in Eastern Kentucky look. It doesn't really do justice to how pretty parts of it can be or how run down other parts are. To really get an idea you would need to take a trip out there and take a few days driving around the back roads.

The first time I went out to the area was in 2009 to record some things with a company called Kertis Creative. I was amazed as to how different the landscape was compared to other places I have lived throughout my life. Over the next 3 years I traveled to the region a few more times on other video shoots and kept thinking I would like a way to show other people what the area looks like. In 2012 I became very interested in timelapses and realized that this type of video does a decent job of making places kind of have a life, or at least make inanimate objects move so your more likely to watch the entire video.

Here is a link to some of the behind the scenes photos showing various ways these shots were taken.

The main pieces of gear used for the video are the following:
Kessler Pocket Dolly for the subtle moves.
Manfrotto 535 tipod legs with a Sachtler fsb 8 head. This supported the Pocket Dolly at times and was also used for the hyperlapses.
Panasonic GH2
Panasonic G3
Panasonic 7-14mm
Panasonic 20mm
Panasonic 45mm
Panasonic 14-140mm
Panasonic 100-300mm
LR Timelapse to help with processing timelapses
Adobe Bridge CS6
Adobe Photoshop CS6
Adobe After Effects CS6
Adobe Premiere Pro CS6
Sonic Fire Pro 5
All editing done on a Windows based PC Intel i7-3770.
Hard Drive Western Digital 500GB USB 3.0 My Passport
95.3GB of photos were shot.
This project consumed 351GB of the hard drive.

I hope this video has been as enjoyable to watch as it was to create.
