It is indisputable that no species can live forever, especially when animals ultimately depend on plants. The history of Earth shows that plants undergo cycles. When a broad family of plants disappear, all those animals that depended on them must also disappear. There is no provision for such an inevitable process in any theory of mass extinction proposed today.
