I excitedly discovered a mountaintop plateau covered with small 'Sun Dew' carniverous plants this morning. These amazing plants have leave like appendages covered with hairs. Each hair has a tiny 'dew drop' of sticky and sweet go on it. Unwarry flies are attracted and get stuck. The hairs then close around them and digest the bug! The bug suppliments the lack of nitrogen in the soil-- in this case the first cycle of growth after a forest fire. Location: Baagaan, Philipines
